A new comedy night is coming to Southport just in time for some pre-Christmas laughs.
The Potting Shed Bar & Gardens on Lord Street is putting on a Christmas Comedy Show and it’s starring one of the North West’s favourite funnymen Brendan Riley.
Brendan, who regularly comperes the Liverpool Comedy Club, is heading to Southport on Thursday December 20 to share a comedy triple bill alongside Edinburgh Fringe regular Harriet Dyer and Scouse comedian and master of audience banter Jamie Sutherland.
The Potting Shed is planning to become a new home for stand-up after hosting the Southport Comedy Festival New Comedian of the Year in the autumn.
The heats and grand final of the competition, which were sponsored by the bar, attracted a big crowd so general manager Jamie Rae says they want to make it a more regular feature.
He said: “The festival was the first time we’d tried out comedy in here, but when we had the grand final especially it was a sell-out so there’s obviously a great fanbase and we are the right venue.
“It created a really good atmosphere on our terrace, everyone had such a good time, so after the feedback we got we decided it’s something we’d like to repeat and give our customers a monthly comedy night.
“The run-up to Christmas is a very busy time for us anyway, so we thought it would be the perfect week to launch the show and offer people something different and fun for their festive night out.”
- The Christmas Comedy Show is at The Potting Shed on Thursday December 20, doors 7.30pm and show starts at 8.30pm. Tickets £10, available from the bar or online at bigcomedyuk.com
