Beverley’s Potting Shed bar and gardens is preparing to stage its first mini music festival over the Easter weekend.
Shedstock will bring together a line-up of local artists for a free afternoon and evening of music, making the most of the bar’s huge garden to kick off a season of outdoor events.
The Potting Shed has become a family-friendly favourite since it opened on Flemingate last August and one of its most popular features is its live sessions on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
General manager Matt Bordewijk said: “Because of our regular nights, we’ve already got a live music following so Shedstock will turn that into a full day event.
“Music will be starting just after lunch right through to 10pm and then we’re planning to have a DJ on after that. There’ll be a compere and about 10 acts in all, with singers and duos, and finishing with a band so we’re expecting a really great atmosphere.”
Matt said Shedstock, on Easter Sunday March 16, would be the first of many events during the spring/summer, taking advantage of the Potting Shed’s terrace and garden which has fantastic views across the town and the Minster.
“We have such a beautiful location and we can open all the folding doors all the way round the building, which makes it a really great summery place to be.
“We were lucky last year because opening in August meant we got the end of the summer and then a really good September so we had a taste of what it’s going to be like. But obviously our customer base has grown hugely since then so we expect to be the most popular bar in Beverley during the summer months.”
A yurt which kept the Potting Shed’s outdoor theme going through winter has now made way for a re-turfed lawn, ready for customers to enjoy the sunshine when it arrives.
“Our garden has taken shape again so it’s looking pristine,” added Matt. “Shedstock will be our first event of the season so hopefully, weather permitting, we’ll be able to have it all outdoors, but we’ll be having it whatever happens, indoors or outdoors.
“We’re just looking forward to the sun coming out to make it even better.”
