Cage Warriors makes its long overdue return to Echo Arena Liverpool, with CWFC 78 on September 10, 2016. The top of the card will feature two of the country’s most exciting MMA prospects, Liverpool natives Chris Fishgold and Paddy Pimblett.

The top of the card will see newly crowned lightweight champion Chris Fishgold defend his title alongside fellow team mate, featherweight, Paddy Pimblett who will look to continue his seven-fight winning streak.  Both fighters train under Paul Rimmer at Liverpool’s Next Generation gym, who in the past has coached former Cage Warriors stars, current UFC fighter Danny Roberts and UFC veteran Rosi Sexton.

It was in May 2014 that Echo Arena Liverpool hosted a Cage Warriors, CWFC 68 event and it was a night packed full of knockouts and submissions – ten in total.   Local favourite Danny ‘Hot Chocolate’ Roberts featured in a welterweight tussle with highly regarded veteran of the sport Jim Wallhead.  Roberts delivered for the local crowd, dropping Wallhead with a right hand, stopping the fight via TKO at the 4:49 mark of the opening round.  It was Roberts biggest win to date.

“Chris and Paddy have been the stars of our two London shows this year so it’s fitting that we give them and their fans what they want with a Liverpool home coming,” says Graham Boylan of Cage Warriors.  “Both fighters are on the cusp of fighting on an international show so this could be the last time we see them perform in their home town for a while.”

CWFC 78, Liverpool will be broadcast live on BT Sport, Viasat in Scandinavia and around the world on UFC FIGHT PASS®.
