Acclaimed tapas restaurant, El Gato Negro, has added further flavour to its dessert menu with the introduction of a number of new tempting dishes.

The refreshed dessert menu, developed by Chef Patron and Creative Director Simon Shaw alongside Head Chef Carlos Gomes, sees a trio of exciting additions including lemon meringue tart with blueberry gel and lemon sorbet, choux bun with hazelnut and tonka bean crémeux, and Valrhona chocolate tart with mixed berries, shortbread and caramel, all priced at £5.50.

The new desserts are in addition to popular menu favourites such as delicious mini doughnuts served with hot chocolate sauce priced at £6 and Crème Catalan, £5.50.

For those short on time, a selection of desserts are available on the lunchtime menu, alongside some of the restaurant’s best loved dishes available 12pm – 5pm.

Commenting on the new menu, Simon Shaw said: “We’ve put a lot of time into creating the new desserts and they really are delicious! When people think of tapas food they often think of savoury dishes, but the Spanish have a sweet tooth too.

“Traditionally in Spain dessert menus boast sweetness with chocolate, creamy dishes. We’ve taken this local influence and introduced treats that are rich in flavour but are light enough to enjoy following a meal.”

The new dessert menu follows the recent launch of the restaurant’s new spring menu, which celebrates seasonally-available produce and features the very best sourced ingredients.

Located on Manchester’s historic King Street, El Gato Negro is set across three distinct floors and is renowned for simple, bold and confident dishes. One of the UK’s leading modern Spanish restaurants, El Gato Negro is the only restaurant in Manchester City Centre to have been awarded a 2018 Michelin Bib Gourmand.
