Silent Knight

Lovingly ripped off from the classic film comedy Monty Python & the Holy Grail, SPAMALOT has been entertaining audiences around the world since it won the Tony Award on Broadway for the Best New Musical in 2005.  With a script by original Python Eric Idle, and an almost (but not completely) new score by Eric Idle and John Du Prez, this hilarious musical also opened to rave reviews in London’s West End, with the Sunday Telegraph describing it as ‘Comic Razzle Dazzle’, and the Sun as ‘The Funniest Show in Town’,  with the Times guaranteeing that audiences will ‘Laughalot’.

‘Spamalot’ tells the legendary tale of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table  – and it’s not quite as the history books would have you believe! (though the Producers accept no responsibility for any factual inaccuracies!)  When Arthur is tasked by the beguiling Lady of the Lake to search for the Holy Grail, he recruits the most unlikely and incompetent army of knights from across the Kingdom, as he gallops from plague-ridden provinces to the Las Vegas-like Camelot.  Little do they realise that they will have to overcome dancing monks, flatulent French taunters, Knights of Ni, mysterious enchanters, cross-dressing princes and pets with pointy teeth to succeed in their quest!

Packed with the hilarious songs ‘He is Not Dead Yet’, ‘Song That Goes Like This’, ‘Knights of the Round Table’, and the Nation’s Favourite Comedy Song (Reader’s Digest poll) ‘Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life’, Southport Spotlight’s production of ‘Spamalot’ will truly be a ‘Knight’ to remember!
