Pesto at the Davenport Arms is launching its Italian afternoon tea menu to diners next week.
The Marton-based restaurant, which opened its doors in February following a £600,000 investment in the former tavern, is already well-known for its Italian small plates or ‘piatinni’.
The new afternoon tea menu will have an Italian twist, guaranteed to get taste buds tingling. Traditional cucumber sandwiches have been replaced with Italian favourites including a bruschetta Pomodoro, a chicken Caesar salad on a baby ciabatta and a mini loaf topped with pesto, fresh tomato and mozzarella.
The savoury dishes are accompanied by delicious Italian cakes and sweet treats including Pesto’s popular homemade tiramisu and freshly baked scones served with preserves; the perfect partner to a glass of bubbles or strong cup of coffee.
Speaking on the announcement, General Manager of Pesto at the Davenport Arms, Mike Hurst said: “We’ve embraced a much-loved British tradition and given it an Italian makeover. As the experts in serving tasty small plates, afternoon tea is a fantastic extension of our existing menu and offers the perfect dining experience for a special occasion.
“We’ve been overwhelmed with the amount of visitors we’ve had through the door since we opened in February and are looking forward to sharing this delicious new menu with them.”
Pesto at the Davenport Arms opened on 13 February following a 12 week renovation to the former tavern which saw the building’s original features retained, including the low oak beams and open fires. The main 120 cover dining space boasts a spacious and relaxed feel with a generous landscaped garden seating an additional 62.
Renowned for its Italian small plates or ‘piatinni’, Pesto boasts over 40 dishes full of big flavours. Giving a true taste of little Italy, dishes include Pizzetta picante con salsiccia with spicy Italian sausage and Penne con pollo al dragoncello with chicken breast, fresh tarragon, mascarpone and pecorino cheese.
The new afternoon tea menu is available all day from Monday 22 May and is priced at £12.95 per person. Diners can add a glass of prosecco for just £3.
