Acclaimed tapas restaurant El Gato Negro has unveiled a new drinks menu, expertly crafted to complement the popular King Street restaurant’s dishes.

The list features a refined collection of hand-picked wines alongside the introduction of a number of timeless classic cocktails.  Each uses some of the best local and artisanal craft spirits and has been created with flair and panache.  A carefully curated list of beers, ciders, spirits and sodas is also available.

Making the decision-making process seamless for guests, the new wine-list sees no more than four variants offered in each category of wine.  Chosen in close partnership with Master of Wine Miles Corish, all are exclusively Spanish and see a stellar selection of both newer and established wines from independent producers.

All-time favourites including the full-bodied Gotes Blanques from Alfredo Arribas, which boasts a rich taste perfect for partnering with flavoursome dishes, and the Luis Cañas Crianza 2015 Rioja, which features soft, fruity flavours and is the perfect accompaniment to light red meat dishes, remain on the menu.

The cocktail list has also been reimagined, with popular choices including an Espresso Martini, Negroni Blush and Old Fashioned introduced, each priced at £9.50.

Speaking on the new drinks menu, El Gato Negro Bar Manager Pete Tilley commented: “Choice is a great thing, but the truth is many wine lists can be overwhelming, with guests over-faced by too broad a menu.  Add to this, differences in regions and it can be really confusing.

“For those that like a glass of wine to accompany their meal it’s a significant ingredient and can really lift your chosen dish.  Working with our customers and world-class supplier, Milestone Wines we’ve created the perfect menu to enhance the overall dining experience.”

El Gato Negro uses the Coravini® system, enabling guests to enjoy exclusive wines poured by the glass without removing the cork, while keeping the contents of the bottle perfectly pristine and oxygen.
